OnePlus 3 Concept- Expected specs, design, features and more!

Chinese phones are doing very well in the markets in the recent times. From Xiaomi to the latest company LeEco Chinese smartphone companies are ruling the world.
Both of these Chinese companies have amazing phones. Oh, but you're wondering why I didn't write about OnePlus.
In terms of brand name, I dont think any Chinese company, or perhaps, any new smartphone company could have marketed themselves better.
Ever since its first smartphone which launched in 2013, OnePlus has managed to create a hype mainly because of to two reasons.
Ah, you already know it. The first reason was its unique invite based sale model due to limited inventory and second was its big claim of the device being a “Flagship Killer". Once OnePlus One arrived, the world bowed out to the fact that it indeed was a flagship killer owing to its high end specifications and its cheap price tag. OnePlus followed the trend of the OnePlus One with their next models which are the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X.
We had already posted about the concept design of the OnePlus 3 which hardly had any clarity. And now a leading Indian phone comparison website called PriceRaja having followed the rumours on the Internet closely, and have come up with their own concept for the upcoming OnePlus smartphone.
As we've already mentioned about the Chinese smartphone start-ups, many of them do have something innovative, but lack in design and hardware considerably.

The only exception I found was OnePlus. It has a brilliant design in all three phones. The Sandstone finish in its flagship phones and the glossy finish in the X make all of the phones look stylish and expensive.

Design and Display

A brushed metal unibody could be expected considering all the recently launched smartphones. Several manufacturers are adopting metal body smartphones. However, Oneplus X marks a deviation from the design philosophy and we expect the next flagship killer to adopt the same, mainly because it feels more premium than the sandstone finish.

According to PriceRaja's post, It is expect that the handset maker will keep the size of the smartphone identical to OnePlus 2. However, if it comes in metal and glass chassis, it should be a lot slimmer at around 6.5-7 mm, which will make it one of the most premium feeling smartphones.

It is also expected that the hybrid SIM tray from the OnePlus X will make an appearance on the OnePlus 3, which can have two nano SIMs or a nano SIM and microSD card. This will be a welcome addition for users who have a grievance against non expandable storage on flagship killers.

The OnePlus 3 is also expected to be the first ever Quad HD smartphone from the Chinese brand. Moreover, the display will feature the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 layer in all probabilities.

Software

One place where OnePlus has to improve will be its software. There weren't many issues with the Cynanogen in the One, but with their custom Oxygen OS, which was very buggy, users had pretty much a tough time in its initial months until the bugs were rectified.

However, even now many complaints still do come regarding the OnePlus 2's faulty fingerprint scanner. There weren't any problems with the hardware, but the software for its smooth working wasn't up to the mark.

In the past, OnePlus took pride in its association with Cyanogen Inc., one of the best custom ROMs based on stock Android operating system. However, after problems with Cyanogen Inc., OnePlus took the process in-house and launched its own Oxygen OS based on Android, which boasts of a number of performance enhancements as well as customisation options.

One of the notable features of Oxygen OS is Shelf, which places frequently used apps and contacts in a neat arrangement on a homescreen.

Hardware and Specifications

OnePlus One and 2 both are flagship killers for a reason. And OnePlus will definitely like to top it up with the next flagship.

OnePlus 3 is expected to come flaunting the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4 cores, 64 bit architecture and a clock speed of 2 GHz. The processor is expected to come with a RAM of 4GB, which should do away with any lag or stutter that may crop up. The upcoming device is also expected to feature Adreno GPU 420, which will ensure a stellar graphic performance. Storage-wise, this time we can expect the company to bring three variants – 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.

On the rear panel, it is expected that the brand would upgrade the primary camera from 13 megapixels on OnePlus 2 to a more powerful 16 Megapixels snapper. Coming to the front, the OnePlus 3 might sport a 8 Megapixels selfie shooter accompanied with front flash.

Connectivity

Last year's OnePlus 2 witnessed the handset maker excluding NFC from its specifications, which was a part of One smartphone. However, with Android now officially supporting Google Pay and the handset expected to come with Oxygen OS based on Android Marshmallow, we can expect NFC to make a comeback. Moreover, we can expect features like USB Type-C connector, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS to feature on the upcoming device.
However. All speculations and leaked renders at this point aren't confirmed and are subject to change at any given moment.
OnePlus usually likes to stake out the competition before coming out with its own flagship killer and since most brands showcase their latest flagship devices at Mobile World Conference which will be held on the 24th of February in Barcelona, we can expect a late March or April release for OnePlus 3.
Till then here is concluding our concept for the upcoming flagship killer and comprehensive round up of specifications for the device.
